Community fair results were more than fair

Posted

Well, the 75th Trinity Community Fair has come and gone. By all accounts it was a hit except for the weather. The vendors, music, rides and entertainment were what we expected, and we are looking forward to next year. Thank you, TCFA.

The 42 Domino Tournament on Friday at Joseph’s Restaurant was a huge success also. The Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce hosts this tournament each year to celebrate the Fair and its endeavors. Next year the tournament may kick off the fair celebration earlier.

• Only two events are happening this weekend:

Friday-Saturday, Westwood Shores

Sunday, FMC Church Concert. The Southern Plainsmen Quartet will perform Gospel Music at 11 a.m. at First Methodist Church of Trinity located at 131 N. Elm St. in Trinity.

• These are the important dates for October:

Oct. 4-6, Huntsville Fair on the Square in Huntsville.

Oct. 5, Purse Bingo at the YMCA

Oct. 5, Trinity County Clean-up Day

Oct. 8, TISD Scholarship Info Night

Oct. 12, Brick Street Harmony Quartet, First Presbyterian Church on North Elm Street

Oct. 15, Pumpkin Patch opens, First Methodist Church of Trinity downtown Lot

Oct. 26, Trinity Lions Club Pet Expo and Talent Show, Trinity Community Center

• The Calvary Boys in Concert will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Trinity on Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend to hear some fine Christian Gospel Music at 310 Prospect Drive.

• Don’t forget the weekly Grief and Support Group at the Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church each Tuesday from 2-4 p.m.

• Don’t forget the VFW Bingo games every Thursday and Friday night that help support Trinity County Veterans.

• Don’t Forget the school week is shorter starting in October.

• Don’t forget to support your senior shut-ins. Martin Senior Citizen Center is struggling to stay alive because of inadequate and late funding.

I had baskets and wreaths on display at the Fair to try to make money to support our hungry, sickly, and can’t-drive-anymore elder citizens.

I am going to have these items on display through October with a lot of other items, so you can come by and purchase goodies to help support Martin Senior Citizen Center.

We will have a drawing for raffle Items on Oct. 12 and 31 and set up a secret Santa shop in November. Be there or be square.

See you at the concerts.
