SHEPHERD — The Shepherd-Anderson non-district game was decided by the cost of a field goal.

The Pirates were downed 35-32 by the Owls on Friday.

Shepherd posted the first score of the night with a huge run by Jevaris Marsh after the opening kickoff and set the tone for the first quarter. Anderson could not connect on the next drive but during the second drive they marched down the field with a couple of quick passes for the second score of the night.

With 3:02 on the clock in the first quarter, Anderson posted another TD. Shepherd’s Gage Murphy found an opening in the line with just seconds on the clock in the first quarter to give the lead back to Shepherd 16-13.

The Owls took the lead back, and then both teams were scoreless until deep into the second quarter, when the Owls hit another TD and extra point sending the score 21-16.

In the mid-third quarter, the Owl lead was shortened as Marsh scored another TD, and with 9:40 on the clock in the fourth, Dellinger finds No. 88 Brayden White at the goal line for another Shepherd TD, but not enough to overcome the Anderson lead.

Jevaris Marsh had 10 carries for 150 yards. Preston Stephens had 17 carries for 122 yards, and Landon Dellinger had 2 TDs rushing.
